الجمل الشرطية تستخدم للتعبير عن سبب ونتيجة، أو موقف افتراضي. في الإنجليزية، هناك 4 أنواع رئيسية من الجمل الشرطية.
أساسيات الجملة الشرطية:
If + condition (شرط) + , + result (نتيجة)
- "If it rains, I will stay home."
أو:
Result + if + condition
- "I will stay home if it rains."
النوع 0: الشرط الصفري (Zero Conditional)
لحقائق عامة وقوانين علمية — دائماً صحيحة.

النوع 0 يستخدم للحقائق التي لا تتغير. يمكن استبدال if بـ when.

النوع 1: الشرط الأول (First Conditional)
لموقف محتمل في المستقبل — احتمال حقيقي.

في النوع 1:
- After if → Present Simple (وليس Future)
- في نتيجة الجملة → Will + V1

النوع 2: الشرط الثاني (Second Conditional)
لموقف غير حقيقي أو غير محتمل في الحاضر/المستقبل — تخيل.

قاعدة مهمة في النوع 2:
مع I, he, she, it نستخدم were (وليس was):
- If I were you... ✅
If I was you...❌
النوع 3: الشرط الثالث (Third Conditional)
للتعبير عن الندم على شيء لم يحدث في الماضي — مستحيل التغيير.

أخطاء شائعة
جمل شرطية بدون if
يمكن استخدام:

Unless = if not (إلا إذا)
"You won't pass unless you study." (= if you don't study) -
As long as / Provided that = بشرط أن
"You can borrow my car as long as you drive carefully." -
Even if = حتى لو
"Even if I had money, I wouldn't buy that car."
