أفضل طريقة لبدء محادثة قصيرة هو التعليق على شيء مشترك بينك وبين الشخص الآخر، مثل الطقس أو المكان الذي تتواجدان فيه.

لبدء محادثة قصيرة، ابحث عن موضوع مشترك. مثلاً إذا كنت في مكتب، تحدث عن العمل أو الطقس. إذا كنت في حفلة، تحدث عن الموسيقى أو الطعام. المواضيع المشتركة تجعل المحادثة طبيعية وسهلة.
I work as a teacher.
She lives in Cairo.

المضارع المستمر (Present Continuous) للوضع الحالي:
I am working on a new project.
She is studying English.
It is raining right now.
استخدم المضارع البسيط للحقائق العامة والمضارع المستمر للأشياء التي تحدث الآن.

بعد أن تبدأ المحادثة، من المهم أن تستمر في الحديث. استخدم الأسئلة المفتوحة والتعابير التي تظهر اهتمامك.

- اذكر سبب المغادرة: I have to go to a meeting.
- تمنّى شيئاً لطيفاً: Have a great day.
هذا يجعل إنهاء المحادثة طبيعياً وغير محرج.

لماذا المحادثة القصيرة مهمة؟
في الثقافات الناطقة بالإنجليزية، المحادثة القصيرة ليست مجرد كلام فارغ. هي وسيلة مهمة لـ:

المفتاح لإتقان المحادثة القصيرة هو الممارسة. حاول كل يوم أن تبدأ محادثة قصيرة مع شخص واحد على الأقل. قد يكون زميلاً في العمل، أو شخصاً في المصعد، أو حتى البائع في المتجر. كلما مارست أكثر، أصبحت أكثر ثقة وطلاقة.
